MEGA Chain II: stainless steel without the weakness

Stainless steel chain that carries real load: bigger bearing areas, flanged inner plates and double outer plates, and a design aimed squarely at eliminating breakage.

The stainless steel trade-off, redesigned

Stainless steel chain buys corrosion resistance by giving up strength. A standard stainless steel chain carries far less load than carbon steel of the same size. On a lightly loaded washdown conveyor that's fine. On a loaded drive it means stretched joints, cracked plates, and a chain change every few months.

MEGA Chain II attacks the trade-off directly. The design enlarges the chain's bearing areas, improving both strength and service life, and the second generation reshaped the outer plate to leave fewer places for corrosive substances to hide, so the chain is easier to clean as well as stronger. The manufacturer's data puts allowable load at roughly double standard SUS304 chain of the same size — on a standard inner width, so it runs on standard sprockets.

Where it earns its keep

Loaded lines that must be stainless steel

  • Washdown conveyors and drives in food processing
  • Chemical and corrosive environments with real loads
  • Stainless steel drives that keep breaking or stretching chain
  • Lines where upsizing the chain isn't an option: same size, more capacity

Limits
If standard stainless steel copes, keep it

MEGA II costs more than standard stainless steel chain. It pays for itself on drives that are failing, not on lines where ordinary stainless steel is already lasting years. Tell us the duty and we will say which you need.

Common questions

Straight answers

What is MEGA Chain II?

A stainless steel roller chain re-engineered for load: the design increases the chain's bearing areas to improve strength and service life, and the second generation reshaped the outer plate so the chain is easier to clean, which matters on food and washdown lines.

How much stronger is MEGA II than standard stainless steel chain?

The manufacturer's data shows roughly double the allowable load of standard SUS304 chain of the same size, and it is engineered to eliminate breakage caused by high loading. Exact allowable loads per size are in the table above.

When should I choose MEGA II over standard stainless steel?

When a stainless steel line keeps breaking or stretching chains: washdown conveyors running loaded, drives where stainless steel was chosen for corrosion but is marginal on strength. If standard stainless steel is coping, stay with it. MEGA II is the upgrade for the drives that are failing.

Stainless steel chain not lasting?

Send the size, the load and what's failing, and we will tell you whether MEGA II fixes it or the problem is elsewhere.
