Chain for food processing lines
Stainless steel, self-lubricating and washdown-ready chain for food production, where hygiene rules the specification and downtime costs product.

Stainless steel depth, and chain that needs no oil
Food lines set two hard requirements: corrosion resistance under washdown, and nothing dripping onto product. We hold stainless steel chain across BS, ANSI and conveyor pitches in UK stock, with MEGA II high-strength stainless steel for the lines that eat standard stainless steel. For the second problem, MAXTOP's NSL self-lube range runs with no added lubrication at all, using an NSF H1 food-registered oil-impregnated bush (FG to 145°C; FGH to 220°C for ovens and fryer lines).
- Stainless steel roller & conveyor chain, with stainless steel sprockets to match
- NSL self-lube: NSF H1, no drip, no re-oiling regime
- MEGA II high-strength stainless steel: flanged inner plates and double outer plates for higher tensile strength and wear resistance
NSL self-lube and MEGA II high-strength stainless steel are engineered MAXTOP ranges we supply as sole UK distributor. See the specialist range.
What goes where
Common food-line duties and the chain that survives them.
| On the line | The chain answer |
|---|---|
| Washdown conveyors | Stainless steel roller and double-pitch chain (08B-1SS, 60-1SS, C2042SS and more) from UK stock |
| Where lubricant can't go | NSL self-lube: NSF H1 food-registered bush, runs dry |
| Ovens, fryers & heat | NSL FGH specification to 220°C |
| High-load stainless steel duties | MEGA II high-strength stainless steel |
| Hygienic fixings & attachments | Stainless steel hollow-pin and attachment chain, built to your spacing |
| Matched hygienic drives | Stainless steel sprockets to suit, a Merley Chains speciality |
Straight answers
Is your self-lube chain food-safe?
The NSL range uses an oil-impregnated bush with NSF H1 registration, the standard for lubricants where incidental food contact is possible. FG covers -10 to 145 degrees C; FGH extends to 220 degrees C.
Standard stainless steel chain keeps failing on our line. What next?
Two routes: MEGA II high-strength stainless steel (flanged inner plates and double outer plates for higher tensile strength and wear resistance, running on standard sprockets), or a review of the failure itself: send photos and we will tell you whether it is wear, fatigue or corrosion before you spend.
Do you stock stainless steel in duplex and conveyor sizes?
Yes. Stainless steel coverage runs across BS and ANSI roller sizes and the double-pitch conveyor range, including stainless steel hollow-pin. If a size is to-order we will say so up front with a lead time.
Tell us the line, not just the part number
Describe the machine, the product and the problem, and we'll match the chain, usually the same day.
